wipe handset

I'm rooted with CyanogenMod-4.0.4

the green talk button, which normally would bring up my call log stopped doing so
the search button, which normally would bring up the google search widget and keyboard stopped working right
and the screen stopped locking when I hit the red end button.

so I backed up all my apps to sd, rebooted and wiped the handset, as it seemed the last and only logical thing to do.

any ideas of why this would happen?

You should reupdate the rom also . When you wipe , you also lose some valuable data . So you wipe and repdate .
