Can you use Project Black to get out of contract?

Is it possible to use the new Even More Plus plans to get out of a current contract? I got conflicting info from 2 people. TMo rep said I could switch to one of the new plans, but I would have to finish out the term on my current contract. Radio Shack employee says I could just buy a new phone, pay full price, get a no contract plan, and be out of my contract.

my friend did, he called and went with the new plan i beleive is everything plus no contract,they charge 35.00 activation fee per line,but they waved it. |o he is no longer in contract and didnt pay any ETF.

Yes... you will just need to pay an activation fee, which I think its 35....

I called T Mobile, talked with a rep, had her talk with a superviser, and was told you can NOT get out of your contract.

You CAN switch to month to month, but you're still on the hook until your current contract expires.

What you CAN do is, you can purchase a new phone for full price on the month to month, and T Mobile will split the cost up and charge you 1/20 of the purchase price, for twenty months.

Again, I argued for about 20 minutes, and they would NOT budge and let me out of my contract (I have two contracts, one expires in about ten months, the other in almost two years. I only asked them to let me out of the one which expires in 10 months, not the other one, and they still wouldn't let me out, but would let me switch to month to month, which saved me about $5.)

Yup.... T-mobile is doing this to compete with other non-contract carriers...

Option 1: Even More Plus - Plans, from my understanding a new or existing user can get this plan, all plans are unlimited and you can purchase a phone with an extended installment plan for phones I think like $20 a month but no discount. So you WILL NEVER GET A DISCOUNT on a phone, but you will save nearly 50% of what you are paying now or option 2. All you have to do is choose a plan and pay a $35 activation fee. More importantly when get Call, Text and Web unlimited, you wont pay the $34.99 for G1, since already included for Individual or family plans. Im not sure whether they will cancel your current contract.

Option 2: Even More Plans, this is the type of plan 98% of us already have. More expensive, requires 2 year contract on activation or when you upgrade but you get a partial upgrade discount after 11 months or full discount after 24 months for a phone. After certain amount of time the ETF will reduce by $10 or $20 on a monthly basis and eventually becoming $0 if you dont extend your contract.

It's really up to the user, some may see the first one better and vice verse.

Ok so when I switched to this new plan the rep said that it won't extend my contract but I will need to serve the remainder of my current contract. While you guys seem to imply that getting this plan gets you OUT of the contract. So which is it?

Barring changes to their policies, changing plans will pretty much never get you out of contract EXCEPT for those who work for companies that resell tmobile phones. If you switch to a tmobile employee plan, it cuts the contract out.
