Its pretty good, but the annoying white bar on top and sending you to browser still, pisses me off.

No root needed. Just uninstall Facebook before installing the new version. I used OI file manager to install, but you can use Astro, too.

this is cool! thanks for posting this! Another question...is this safe? looks official, but its my first time installing an app like this from outside the market

It's an update to the "official" application, but I guess it's exclusive to the Droid at the moment.
