I have only had the Droid for a day or so and love it. The only problems that I'm having now is with ringtones on the Droid. I hooked up my Droid to my laptop to put a bunch of mp3 ringtones that I had on my old phone onto the SD card on the DROID. However, sometimes for different functions (main call ringtone, ringtone for email or txt messaging, etc) not all of the mp3s that I added are visible as a choice....some are and some aren't. I can't figure out why sometimes you see some and not others. For example, Song A may be visible as a choice as ringtone for main ringtone but not as a choice for email notification. Song B might be available for main ringtone and email notification, but not available as txt message notification. Its weird. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you plug it in to your computer you need to place the song in the correct folder. On your SD card you neet two folders, one named "notifications" where you will store the tones you want to use for email and sms and one named "ringtones" where you will store your ringtones. Make sure it is set up like this on your SD card and it should work flawlessly.

I also recommend the Market app "rings extended" which will let you browse all the music and other sound files on your Droid (including the SD card).

I also am a new user and looking to learn how to find and manage downloaded ringtones. I do not see them in my ringtone list. I installed rings extended but I can not find it. I see that it was installed under settings applications. When I plug my phone iI saw I had to mount it and I did . I seethe files and added the 2 folders suggested. I can not figure out how to get to the ringtone selection from the contact. I did see how to do this when I download the ringtone. So I do not know what to try next. Any suggestions?

if you create these folders (mount usb first), you dont need any apps. you would then place your sounds in those folders
media/audio/ringtones
media/audio/notifications
media/audio/alarms
