should i get the hero? or wait..

so i am currently using the blackberry storm and i am not a big fan, since last week when the storm(2) was released, all i have seen on crackberry.com is still more problems after problems.. now for the last few days i have been researching about the htc hero/eris, and my local provider (telus) just released their 3g network with sim cards finally. The reason i am asking your guys' opionion on this, is because i am VERY sceptical to purchase another HTC phone..i had an awful experiance with the htc touch diamond and it was the worst phone and worst OS ever made IMO. now i know that the touchDiamond was a windows phone but how they could put that phone on the market and expect it to do well just boggles my mind..

is the hero actually in the same league as the Iphone 3gs if not.. im gonnna wait cuz telus is coming out with it later this year..

your input is greatly appreciated :)

I have the Sprint Hero and love it. I also have a G1 and they are like night and day. I'm not sure which version of the Hero Telus will offer, but the guts of the phone are the same between the "HTC Hero" and the "Sprint HTC Hero". The Sprint version looks more like the myTouch and the rounded corners makes it a little more comfortable when holding it.

Performance-wise, the phone has enough memory to hold a very reasonable number of apps while still maintaining a healthy cache and the extra eye-candy of the senseUI does not slow the thing down a bit.

Hope this helps

yea as long as the hero supports future updates like 2.0 or even 2.1

Hero's scheduled for a 2.0 update, according to HTC. I've only played with an iPhone 3GS instore and was really unimpressed, apart from with the touch screen, which is very nice. The fact that you can't multitask would drive me crazy and in general I hate Apple's appalling smugness and anti-competitive practices (and no, I don't care if they are up against big bad Microsoft).
