I keep seeing the commercials for the new HTC Android, and the OS looks SO much different than my G1, so I'm sure it's a HUGE upgrade (incidentally, I'm not a newb to this technology, even though that question sounds like it lol).

So, are we going to get this upgrade with the G1, or are they not going to bother. If not, how about manually? I did manually upgrade to Cupcake before getting the push, so I know it can (most likely) be done.

Just curious where all this stands.

Its called htc sense. Its not made for any phones on t-mobile and we wont get it from t-mobile. If you are rooted and ever check out XDA Developers, weve had htc sense on our phones for a long while.

I am VERY open to rooting and getting this, but THAT I haven't ever done (just the UK cupcake manual upgrade). How well does it run on the G1? Any issues? Hard to do? ... Free???

1. Makes it run smoother If you download a stable ROM
2. Easy..tutorials everywhere
3. FREE!!!

Its decent at best, and dont let people tell you otherwise. Its easy once you are rooted, but its not perfectly fast, and sometimes the speed can piss you off. At least it does for me. Its just not for me but you might get other opinions.

I appreciate the replies. I just got my replacement G1 yesterday, so I am open to hack it. Out of warranty in like a week anyway. Speed won't be TOO much of an issue... Besides, if I don't like it, I'll go back... :) All my stuff will be the same, yes (calendar, contacts, youtube favs, email sync, etc)?

So, can someone give me a hand with where to go to root it properly, and where to get and how to instal a stable version on Sense?
