Phone Info: myTouch 3g on T-Mobile, stock 1.6, never rooted

Last apps updated: Where! and Andromote (powered off and on afterwards, no issues for 8+ hours)

Last night someone reported voice quality issues from my phone, I rebooted and it seemed fine, about 10 minutes later the backlight stayed on when I put the screen to sleep, then it would not come out of sleep. Removed battery and reinserted, backlight immediately turned back on and phone would not boot or come out of sleep. Removed battery for the entire evening, this morning phone will boot, now I have no touch screen, sluggish performance, and the phone app crashes on an incoming call.

I have removed the SD card and turned off custom ringtones.

I cannot 'factory reset' since the final 'Erase all data' button requires the touchscreen to hit it (can't get focus to it from the scroll ball).

Suggestions?

I won't have time to hit T-Mobile store until this afternoon, but I'm heavily dependent on my phone (which is why I haven't attempted to root).
