Stuck

I took a stab at rooting my G1, following the steps here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_G1/Dream_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod

I got to the "Flash Android 1.6 & CyanogenMod 4.2.4/4.1.9999" step and it didn't seem to be going correctly. I didn't see anything about nandroid and pressing Alt-A did nothing. Do I need to rename the Cyanogen file after downloading it? Now my phone is stuck at the "T-Mobile G1" screen. Please help!

P.S. I followed it step by step, not sure if something is missing from the wiki or not.

Ok, I got it past the G1 screen, but it still appears to be running RC29. Where do I go from here?

when i get to the point where i need to flash 1.6 and install ROM, it's not working. In recovery mode, i press Alt-l and it says:

Android system recovery utility
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command

Then the usual Home+Back, Alt+L, Alt+S, and Alt+W

almost got it...finally got the right screen...just flashed the radio...about to flash the spl...

Hmmm....everything seemed to work, but now it's hung up at the TMobile G1 screen...

it can take a while 10-15 minutes is not unusual
