Questions About The Hero

Hey,

Sorry if this is the wrong place for post!

Im new to Android phones and i've decided to upgrade to one (after having an iphone + iphone 3g), iv boiled it down to picking the HTC Hero (as the Droid isnt available in the UK) but have a few questions;

- Can Android 2.0 OS be installed on the HTC Hero with or without the Senses UI?
- Can HTC Hero accept over the air updates from Google?
- Can the HTC Hero be rooted?

HTC is working on an update to 2.0 at the moment according to their recent tweets. They're missing out 1.6 altogether though.

Do you mean Android updates over the airwaves? That's a no. You have to update via your laptop, certainly at present and on Orange UK.

I've had my Hero since September and it's a really amazing toy that's very easy to live with. The multitasking capability is the clincher for me over iPhone.

Yeah thats one of the reasons im not getting the 3GS.

Anyone got any ideas if Android 2.0 or 1.6 can be loaded on to the HTC Hero even if this means compiling from source?
