ok...so i'm on the wiki page following step by step. got all files i needed. everything is on the sdcard and ready to go.

in the directions... after you gain root... is says type "<small>flash_image recovery /sdcard/cm-recovery1.4.img

enter

</small>"

i get...no such file or directory. which is nonsense...cuz its def on the sdcard under that exact name. am i missing something or is this just one of those things every1 else but me can do? considering i've installed js 1.5os before... i should be able to do this.

Did you type su (enter) first? It should give you the option to always allow.

ironic that you have sort of the same name and sort of the same problem on the same day lol

im going by what the "easiest know way of rooting and installed cyanomod to your g1"

where in "the easiest known way of rooting and installing cyanomod to your g1" does it say creating the SU function? i did that when i installed js1.5... nowhere in this guide does it say that.

i used this:

http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news/how-to-root-a-t-mobile-g1-and-mytouch-3g-android-phone/

because the wiki wasnt working for me. I got everything to work so far, but I'm stuck at the T-Mobile G1 screen now.

in your case it sounds like an infinate loop. you may have to start over if it doesnt boot eventually.

so i went to start all over, used a card reader to put the RC29 file back on the sd card, held the camera button then pushed power...and i got the screen with the androids on skateboards. isn't that the screen i was supposed to get if it worked correctly?

from the same guide your using.

"After changing Android builds, it came take several minutes for the first boot. If you phone hangs on the animated Android logo, this is because you did not perform a wipe. If you are stuck in a boot loop, return to the recovery image and make sure you wipe."

You cant just flash any cyan above 4.1999, you have to be on 4.1.9999 first then flash the new one, heres the instructions.

your right, that page is jumbled up so i'll give you step by step

1. root (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442480), if your not rooted do that first
2. download the official adp spl from htc (http://developer.htc.com/adp.html)(recovery image)
3.download cyan 4.1999 (http://www.cyanogenmod.com/)
5.flash cyan 1.4 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3915123) or amon 1.2.3 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566669)or up recovery
6.install one of the two recovery images first using their install instructions
7.put htc adp recovery iumage and cyan 4.1999 in the root of your sd
8.flash the htc recovery then when it reboots flash cyan 4.19999
9. after you are on cyan 4.1999, you can flash any cyan 4.2 and and up just by choosing them, you don't have to do this every time but you do the first time. There's no way around it.

nope. while i feel confident enough to flash roms... i dare not mess with radios and spls. this is the only g1 i go and i'm not tryin to turn it into a worthless hunk of plastic.
