Are there any apps that can modify/add functionality to the Home/Back keys?

I've found only a single one: Underground
http://www.milezero.org/index.php/tech/mobile/everythings_heavy.html

It's pretty ugly though... Luckily, he provided source code for his app.

Personally I would love an app that removes the long-press for the Home key, so that the menu comes up instantly.

Are there any other apps out there besides Underground that can change Home/Back button functionality?

This is the first one I've seen do that and I really like it and am using it now :D It reminds me of this home replacement by Larva Labs that has a similar UI that's definitely better but they told me they weren't really taking it seriously I'll pull up the url

Hmm, pretty nifty.

Not really what I'm looking for though. Basically I'm looking for a way to switch between running apps really really fast, like an alt-tab (ie no long presses, no notification panel, etc). Task Switcher is nice, but slow, and the camera button is inconvenient.

Anyone know of a really fast way to switch between apps? (Or remove the delay of the Home long-press?)

If a home screen could do that, it would only work when the home app was in focus.

Not sure what you mean.

Check out Underground. It hooks into the Home button. (And it looks like not a single other app in existence for Android does that.)

I'm so glad that this was posted because it's amazing and it's an actualy functionality that I really have been hoping would come out.

From what I understand, a Home Replacement is that any application that can stand alone, or something like that.
This is nifty because a lot of the time I look at my phone it's to pull up text's and with this I hit the home button and then select texts it's clean and quick. not the easiest on the eyes but I can't complain.
