So when all of out T-Mo contracts with G1s run out, what can we be hoping for/looking at in the world of Android? What will be the T-Mobile Android Device to have when that time rolls around, or has it even been made yet? I've been hearing a lot of hype about the Touch Pro HD, but from a video showdown on Cnet, its still not as good as the IPhone.
How far along will we be in what is it, a year now?
I played with a MT3G the other day, and it really does feel the exact same as the G1. I love the QWERTY on the G1 though. I would have to say I use it about 10 times more often than the virtual keyboard.
Anyone have any ideas as to what we can expect a year from now when we can start thinking about upgrades?

I'm feeling the need to upgrade my G1 pretty intensely. I have another year at T-Mo, but if I could, I would go with Verizon Droid in a heartbeat.
I stopped by my local T-Mo store, and asked what they had coming out that was competitive with the Droid. They pushed Cliq. I looked at it briefly, and I simply want a more powerful handset. Cliq seems too much in the same league as G1, MT3G, Hero. I'm think Cliq will get me mucho lagging and memory constraints, as I constantly experience with G1. I'm loving Android, but my handset options at T-Mo simply seem to suck. I would even consider Hero (though it's a nicer version of MT3G/G1). I want Droid or X10. Will T-Mo ever step up?

As we all know, T-Mo is always lacking in really great devices. But also need to remember, there's another year to go till upgrade time. I hope in that amount of time something really nice comes out.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Android. So obviously I will definitely get another phone with Android. And since I've been with T-Mo for over 7 years, I would love to stay with them. I've personally have had no issues with them. So I would hate to leave them because someone else is carrying better phones that I want to upgrade to.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE T-MOBILE!!!! Don't make me leave you just because you can't keep up with the competition with great new phones. I was almost about to leave them because of their lack of really great smart phones, but then I heard of the G1. So I hope some great stuff comes out by next October!

I believe that the phone that I am going to replace my G1 with, has not been made yet. I am sure that by the time my G1 is ready to be upgraded, HTC would have finally put out an android phone that rivals or is better than all of the other android phones currently out or rumored. HTC only has up to go from the hero. Once they up internal storage the screen size, so that using the virtual keyboard isn't a pain to use and add sense on top I am all good...

Looks like the Sony Xperia X10 is the next big phone on the horizon, sporting a 1ghz snapdragon processor.

I'll use my G1 as long as there are people making roms for it. But I am getting the N900 (http://maemo.nokia.com/n900/) and the Sony X10.

I love my G1 and honestly the only thing that makes me even think about updating is the thought of not being able to easily get Android updates. I'm crazy excited for navigation and exchange support, so hopefully T-Mo and Google find a way to cram it onto our sets!
I just came over from Verizon in April, and if you guys think T-Mo has bad phones, go shopping at your local Verizon store! All their phones have the same crappy OS with NO features. The Droid does look nice though. Plus, Verizon's customer service is horrendous. So far I'm very happy with T-Mo.

I wouldn't go with Verizon for any reason. They make every effort to get into your wallet, especially by crippling their phones.
For me, it depends on what happens with Android 2. If the G1 can't take it because of memory limitations, I'll tell TMO to stick their contract and head for the nearest Apple Store.

yeah im already thinking about goin apple. The iphone is just superior to android. I know android has great potential, but it just doesnt seem like the right os for me.
and if i do switch, then i will miss android and all of its glory

I will be dropping t-mobile, network is the pits and a usable 3G signal is still not available in central ohio and there are just way to many holes in the network for voice.

Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt, and sent that back! LOL
I had the iPhone (left my G1). I sold the iPhone and came back to Android. I missed multitaksing, widgets, and a physical keyboard. To me, the iPhone was just soo.....boring! Personalization isn't important to Apple and they have the OS so locked down, its ridiculous. I could care less about 100,000 apps when 98,900 of them are useless.
I had to jailbreak the phone just to get it to do basic things that android did, such as message notifications on the top bar, multitasking, and customization.
Now I'm back to Android and don't plan on leaving it.

Its been a few months now, and with all the recent goings-ons such as the N1 being released, and the Legend on its way, what are everyone's thoughts?
I'm stuck on contract until about this time a year from now, but I know a lot of you are going to be able to switch up come fall.
So, is your next phone clearly visible to you, on the horizon, or still being thought up somewhere?
Personally, I'm not totally blown away by any of the devices I've seen thus far. My main gripes with my G1 are speed and storage.
From what I've read, the snapper in the N1 and others is good, but doesn't seem to be blowing anyone away with the speed. What kind of processor speeds will we be looking at a year/ 7 months or so from now?
The storage situation is just odd to me. Why doesn't Google at least find a way to send apps to SD or SOMETHING?
Now if you showed me a thin, sexy device, with the G1's exact or similar qwerty keyboard, 3.5mm head phone jack, decent camera with a flash, wicked fast processor, 32GB hard drive, and maybe even Sense, for T-Mo, I would probably be able to make up my mind.
That previous paragraph led me to one other point....none of these new devices are very attractive. The N1 is just kinda blah (never seen one in person though, doesn't look bad, just not good either), the Legend is decent, but it looks similar to my G1, and the Xperia X10 isn't terrible either, but I don't know, something just looks cheap about the buttons on the bottom. None have captured the sex appeal of a iPhone IMO.
Maybe I'm just too picky. :)
