Major problem with Moment

There is no visual notification of a text or missed call if the phone (http://androidcommunity.com/forums/#) is in hibernation mode or off. Having to periodically check the phone to see if you got a text or missed a call is ridiculous. If somebody has this phone and doesn't have this issue please let me know. I can't believe they overlooked a feature as obvious as this.

If the phone was off, it wouldn't give you a notification forlow battery, let alone a missed call. Ilve had to periodically check my phone for a call or txt since my first phone 8yrs ago. I think its something that happens if you don't hear it go off.

If your phone has an LED light, get the app missed call and that'll fix your problem.

I'll check that out. I had the Instinct before this phone and it was the same way until they came out with an update for the software and then the home, menu and arrow icons would blink. Hopefully they will do the same with this phone.

handcent sms notifies you of a text when the phone is sleeping or awake

as for missed phone calls, I have no idea because I rarely use this as a phone ;)

It's available in the Android Market, under "Missed Call". However it is currently for OS 1.6 and above devices, so I think searching from a Samsung Moment, which is currently on 1.5, is not going to find it in the market, and would not install anyway.

Atleast that's my understanding, as I have a similar issue searching from a Roger's Magic, which is also still on 1.5.

I have a Samsung Moment which runs 1.5 and I am also using Handcent Sms, I got it from the Market. Just search for "handcent" and you should be good to go! :D

Type in exactly like this "Handcent SMS (new)" without the quotes of course

There is a description of the app when you look at it on androidzoom.com or if you search for it in the Androidmarket. Basically it makes your phone light up when you get a email, text ect.

I haven't had any issues with it at all! It's GREAT! BTW you can just click next most apps need to connect with your data connection ect. and most apps will give you that warning but your good. :)

I guess I don't understand the issue - mine will notify me of a txt. You wont' see or hear any repeating notification if that is what you're looking for, but it will give you the initial notification sound. Another option would be to change the sound in settings to a longer audio file.

You can change the notifications sound for text messaging and with Handcent you also can have it repeat "forever" until you open up your message, but it will not flash your home/menu/back keys. You have that option in the Handcent App. but right now the Moment is not able to do that, but some have said theirs does it all the time. Mine did when I first turned it on but it doesn't do it now, it has been mentioned in other forums that Handcent is the reason it doesn't anymore because of the popup window it has with its program, I don't know, but I do know that issue with the notification is a big deal for me. It has become enough of an issue that I probably will return it and get the Hero even though I am not real happy about the keyboard on the Hero I can do it but having to wake up the Moment just to see if I have any messages is irritating in my opinion. The sound isn't that big of a deal, I want lights!!
Another small issue is the slide-out keyboard, the backlight on it doesn't stay on long enough for me and I haven't found any options to extend the keyboard backlight. I don't type fast enough anyway on a cellphone,(I did pretty good on a BB tho') so if you aren't a fast typer then like a 3-4 second delay? (I'm not sure) in keystrokes the light will go out and I am left in the dark...oh well, just a personal opinion and we all have them but that is what these forums are for, to pass on pros and cons and take opinions/advice from others to form our own opinions and go from there.
