pdanet tether won't stay active

I have a verizon motorola droid and have installed pdanet to try to tether. It's fabulously simple and effective to get online. (especially compared to vzmanager). the problem comes in a couple of minutes when the connection is dropped by the phone i think. first the speed dies then the connection completely dies and i have to start over. Anybody else having this problem?

I have tried killing all the apps except pdanet on the droid to no avail. And yes i have tried the automated search function for this forum (and the manual one too). So if this is ofn, i apologize. This is my first post. :)

ok, fwiw: reinstalled, and this seemed to fix it. running everything (including firefox) fine on my laptop till i fired up IE, then it started the pausing and dropping thing again. quit IE and things are good again. strange.

The phone goes into standby mode after a few minutes and shuts down wifi/3g maybe?

I think its the program itself... It happens to me as well.I have tmobile, G1, and same thing, the speed will just drop and disconnect, then come back up, after like 5-7 minutes, it will happend again so I just took it off.
