My idiot cousin was checking out my new droid and wanted to install nesoid lite. I had heard of it and remembered it was free so I gave him the goahead [hes usually very good with computers]. Instead of getting it from the market, he retrieved it from a forum and installed it. By the time i looked at what he was doing, it was running and ready to load a rom file to begin emulating. Each time he tried to run a rom, it would crash to desktop. I asked if he got it from the market and he told me no. After wringing his neck, I checked the settings and it said 'version 2', which i do not believe exists.

I have since uninstalled it and installed the proper release from the market, which works wonderfully by the way. Now, my question is, is there a way I can scan the phone for malicious code?

The thought of compromising my device is horrifying, given all the personal data we store on them. I still have the apk... with the communities permission I'd love to upload it to see if anyone could peek at the code and assuage some of my anguish..

Thanks for any help.

Don't worry , your phone isn't infected . It was probably a beta app . There aren't any virus for android , yet . Even if thre were , it would only infect that app that was installed(because of the way android works) . If your phone was rooted and you gave it permission to work , can a virus spread all over . But a stock phone will be pretty much virus free . But then again , there aren't any viruses for android yet , only poorly written apps .

Hi thanks for your info.
Yesterday I had a really strange behavior on my Voodafone HTC Magic.
I hat an unresponsive device draining the battery (hot battery booth) with a full screen display of text (unfortunately I don't remember and could not take notes but for me it showed some kind of virus notice) and images (green Androids on the bottom).
Battery was nearly empty so I switched it off. A normal start did not work, black screen after vodafone start up screen and android logo. Removing the battery has worked so far. Device accessible again, but now I wonder if there is any virus, I don't want s.o. to work on my phone, e.g. steal contact information, or my identity.

Device is not rooted but external software sources enabled, even though I did only download software from Market so far. (I know..)

Is there a good firewall and anti virus software (read about bad one, slowing the device down to be nearly unusable aso.)

bloo

That wasnt a virus, you somehow got your phone into the bootloader mode.
