Rooting help

Got a g1 that I am trying to root in the uk

I have followed CyanogenMod's instructions and I have done recovery image part.

My problem is that when go flash 1.6 and cyangen rom there is now ALT-A option and on the top its says E: cant open/cache/recovery/command

Now I am stuck on 1.0 help :confused:

do you still get the option to apply any zip. if so flash the 1.6 then the cyan rom and see if it works if not start over and we can walk you through it

yea i do but it keeps saying signature not found

re download both files you got bad downloads. just re download both of them and try again.

I downloaded them from cyangen website so where can i find good ones

alright I done the 1.6 now what ? DO i just put on sd and then Alt_s

THe android logo comes up and then nothing just a black screen ?

cant even connect to the sd card

you need to boot into recovery holding home then apply the 1.6 then reboot there will be a unbox image(dont freak out) then when it goes away hold home again then apply the cyan rom

so go back to recovery and apply the cyangen rom ?

try that if not you probably need to start over

Apply 1.6 let it go through its process then without rebooting apply cyan rom then reboot holding home and back

yea but i cant access the sd card anymore and therefore cant add cyangen rom

do you have a sdcard reader? or a spare phone?

what recovery do you have? amon should have a toggle USB or are you still stock just using the alt commands..if so then you need to get a card reader of other device like ahugo suggested

thank you for taking over i am helping 3 people in googlechat right now and am all over the place looking things up and am getting confused. (1 droid, 1 MT3G, and a GSM Hero) it is quite a mix of phones

so i was running HERO on my G1 but it was super slow and alot of the apps were force closing, so i tried to do it again and now my phone doesnt turn on completely, its stuck on the HERO screen and it keeps rebooting..someone please help me out...

its called a boot-loop

go into recovery by holding the end and power buttons..then wipe data, wipe ext partition, reflash the ROM..I would go with milign's latest or drizzy blur personally

make sure you have the correct radio/spl

@ ahugo...np always try and help when I have some time lol I was help out alot by you guys before trying to give back to AC ;)
