Thanks for the reply. That's not quite what I'm looking for. It appears to be more of a media play that streams media to an android phone. I need access to the entire desktop to launch and use applications remotely.
I don't yet have an android phone, so I don't really know where to search. The only thing on a cell phone I've turned up so far is logmein which looks like what I'm looking for except it runs on a iPhone, which is not what I want.

i just searched the market for you, the first option is an app called remote desktop client, it costs 17.95
and there are things as well but they don't have such a direct name, but it looks like the option is there.

Thanks a LOT for the help. Haven't found that exact app yet, but googling for that term brought up a lot of pointers to some apps that do what I'm looking for. Now I just need to get a phone and start experimenting to see which works best.
Thanks again,
Randy.

That's the main one I'm looking at now, the one I'll try first after I pick up a phone. All the others I've seen require the RDP Client that only comes on the Professional, Business, or Server editions of Windows. And not all our computers at the office run those versions. It looks real good from what I've read. How's the responsiveness of it? And how well does it scale running a full desktop on a small cell phone screen?

Xtralogic's Remote Desktop (http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-xtralogic-android-rdpclient-jFAx.aspx) is great. I've used a couple others and had issue with them using so much phone resources that I couldn't do anything once I was remoted onto a particular system.
Remote Desktop works very smoothly and I have been able to do everything I needed working out in the field with no internet connections for my laptop.
I don't like spending much on apps but for this functionality, it was well worth it.

You can try http://www.crystalballmobile.com. Very efficient data compression. working over 3G or even EDGE. Bandwidth: ~4-5 MB/h
I think media streaming and remote desktop is different tasks.
For videostreaming from BB(big brother) I choose VLC Streaming

For RDP I use "Remote RDP"
