Hello everyone, over the last week or so my droid has shut itself off twice, just sitting there on the desk causing me to miss many important emails. I have to pull the battery to get it back on again. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Thanks!

Haven't had that issue at all. I'd start by cleaning out all widgets or third party apps to see if the problem resolves itself. If it's still doing it try resetting to factory defaults: settings > privacy > factory data reset. Of course make sure all your data is synced.

I also had a problem with my Droid shutting down for no particular reason that I could discern. I took it to a verizon store and they replaced it without any problem. New one seems more stable. Maybe it has something to do with an early build date?

Had the same problem. It will just randomly reboot, sometimes during a call. Have some third party apps installed.

I have the same problem. My Droid will randomly shut off, sometimes during a call. Sometimes i can turn it back on with the power button and sometimes i have to remove the battery to make it turn back on. It was off for several hours the other day, missed some important calls too. This is becoming a real problem....

It has happened to me a few time. I think I am going to go get a replacement tomorrow

FYI, mine shut off twice today even while there was plenty of battery power left. At first I thought it was bricked. Both times I had to remove the battery.

I've had this same exact issue on two different droid phones. I returned the first phone within my 30 days and got a new one as I felt it might have been a hardware issue.
I'm onto the 2nd Droid now and it is happening AGAIN. So based on that, and also other threads that talk others having this same issue, it seems to be a common issue. Has Motorola officially stated this is a known problem yet?
Its very frustrating when your phone is just sitting there and you aren't even using it and later find out it was turned off.

This is a hardware issue with some droids. I have droid pro as my work phone with the Gov't agency I work for. When we called the Verizon gov't account center they ofered to replace the phone immediately. The tech stated that anytime a phone has to have the battery removed to resolve an issue it is the phone and not any thrid party app. *Do not remove any of your apps to try and solve this. Just return the phone. Save yourself headaches.

I have a milestone and had this problem initially. But some other problem forced me to go to factory settings, and voila, it never happened again (at least 6 months since a random shutdown)

A friend had this problem, too. He took it to Verizon and they replaced it with a refurbished Droid. He hasn't had problems since.
