As some of you may have already noticed, we released ShopSavvy 3.0 this weekend.
Aside from numerous bug fixes, we put a lot of work into enhanced map support, and we also added a large number of data sources which should greatly improve local search results.

I've been noticing that sometimes newly updated apps don't always bubble up to the top of the Market list (I always sort mine by date). I would not have known this was updated had you not posted this here. Thanks.

Same with me, I normally sort by date so if there are updates I can grab them right away. This one I had to find to update, I would not have noticed unless I saw this post.

Yeah, for some reason updating apps doesn't bring them to the top anymore. I think we might have to start deleting the old app and republishing the update as a new one, but then we lose all of our ratings and comments.

This is very troubling because there was another app that was updated over the weekend and didn't bubble to the top as well (exchangeIt) and had I not been in communication with the developer, I would not have known. I'm not sure what's going on with the Market, or if this is somethig that the developers are doing wrong (putting the wrong date in somewhere???), but this was the only way I would know if an app had been updated. If this doesn't work any more, then I'm screwed.
Now back to our discussion about the wonderful app ShopSavvy 3.0!

Actually the developer can't enter in a date. The Market should automatically know when the app was last published and move it to the top. Although I guess then a developer could always just keep republishing and bringing their app to the top.

And if the developer *COULD* enter in a date, they could just enter in Dec 31, 2020 and hope that is high enough to keep it at the top. I don't know what's going on with it.
Very sorry for the threadjack.

I started a new thread on the market issues.

I did not know they weren't auto updaing...i went through the app list and redownloaded 5 or apps i *thought* was up-to-date...annoying

Me too. Anyone gotten any funny looks while scanning stuff in their local shopping establishments?

Not yet, but I'm usually discrete about it.
Our local news has covered a couple of stories about people more actively comparison shopping for big-box items using a laptop or PDA and being asked to leave the store. The justification being that the store operators think the people are spying for competitors so they can undercut their prices.
There's also been a rash of stories about people photographing articles from magazines or books using their phones so they don't have to purchase it from the newstand.
But I think you'd have to be doing something really wrong for anyone to hassle you about scanning the barcode on a bottle of shampoo or a loaf of bread.

I usually check popular apps every now and then, just to see what i may/maynot be missing. That's how I found out.
Please could you include Kirkland products (COSTCO) in your database? I am still unable to compare their products to see how much I am (not) saving.
Thanks...

I'm a big fan of Costco myself, but the problem is that Kirkland is their house brand, and no one else carries these items, so doing comparison shopping on these items is kind of a moot point. Hopefully we can get a "similar items" type of thing going in a future release that would include costco data.

This is the first time I've heard of this bug, but I'll look into it, there have been problems reported with wishlists especially when they get very large.

I agree. Posting a vendor specific item is pointless. Providing a substitute item comparison would be a cool SS 4.0... but then... say i wanna buy cereal... you would get 100+ products to choose from... then you would need a change in the UI need to add a bunch of configurations... it would make SS not as simple to use. maybe call it SS Pro

I will second that I am also having the issue where the items in the wishlist does not actually delete. I've tried deleting and also unchecking it from the wishlist it's attached to, but once the program is fully closed and opens back up, they're there again.

Thanks 4 the response... dont worry about it, its a minor nuissance... But wouldnt mind the "similar items" in future releases.
I had the scanning bug/fit/attack while shopping @ costco but couldnt get any search results, that's why i brought up the Q.

This bug has been corrected, hopefully it won't be much longer before our next release.
