NitroDesk, a company that specializes in web-services, has just released TouchDown - the first Microsoft Exchange client for the Android OS. TouchDown, unlike other released exchange services for Android, will allow users to access their email, contacts, and calendar information on their Exchange servers. NitroDesk assures users that TouchDown is secure, and that the TouchDown will be the only application necessary to ensure the process on both the mobile and server-side.
In addition to allowing users to fetch data from the server, TouchDown also allows users to set their devices to periodically check for updates. TouchDown is currently available on the NitroDesk website and will also be available through Handango for the price of $29.99. The download will also include a trial for a limited time period.

Divorcing Blackberry for Android....
I hate the fact that we should have to pay for such a tool. Hopefully we get a free alternative to this.
cant put this damn phone down...
Yeah I'm on exchange 2003 so it's a no go for me too.
In case anyone is wondering how to determine what version of MS Exchange they are on here is a link explaining how to find out.

I got it to work for me. It's a little confused about getting and then displaying emails, but it got my calendar and contacts fine as well as sending an email. I'm going to let it run in the background (I guess it does) and see if it polls successfully.
I just got it setup and working it got my calendar no problem however my email and contacts do not seem to be working, also it is a bit clunky setting up, perhaps it would have been a bit easier if it had walked you through it the first time you launched it with the option of changing later.
Ok it gets my contacts fine but the most important part the emails seems to be something wrong, and as far as paying I will happily pay 30 bucks for this app and I do not see why anybody would think otherwise, just because Android is open does not mean that all applications should be free.
