Hi everyone,
I'm seriously seriously looking into getting a G1. The only thing holding me back is the lack of an onscreen keyboard.
Does anyone know if cupcake is actually ever going to happen for the G1?
I've looked up apps and seen paw-paw and chomp sms.
Does anyone know if you can get chomp sms without having to pay up using the service as i'll never need to use their sms with the t-mobile package.
Big thanks if anyone can help or point the right direction!
Paul
you dont pay for chompsms, and you dont pay for their service unless you dont have a text plan.

TouchPal will be coming out shortly for the G1.
It'll give you virtual keyboard for ALL programs and areas on the G1 where text entry is needed. Has "Predict Next Word", "Prediction based on context", "Correct misspelled word" etc. etc.
Looks very cool!

On screen keyboard has to be coming. It looks like the next Android phone (the G2) is a totally touchscreen based phone with no physical keyboard...
it might take a while, but an onscreen keyboard for the g1 will be here soon.
BTW; get the G1 noww!!!
on screen keyboard should be here by the end of the 1st quarter of the year. HTC website did say that it'll be here on the G1 in Q1 2009
luckily the "save mms" app was free
it'd be crazy if a whole bunch of apps were purchased but then later offered in a future ota
i'll wait until end of 1st quarter
