G1 tracking device

How about turning our G1's into tracking devices.

download tracking program which also comes w/ 2-4 units quarter size transponders that would update the G1 on each transponder's whereabouts every time it's pinged. I'd like to put it in my car when I turn my car in to the valet, make sure my kids where them when they go to the mall or the movies.

Since the transponders won't be deadly accurate a general idea of it's location would suffice. Then we could go onto google maps to make sure our kids aren't lying about being at the movies when we do a street view to check if there is actually a movie theater there.

Definitely a great idea.. the "street view" will certainly be a truth maker out of alot of situations. lol what was that. you fell asleep!?! lol well i guess your car decided to take a spin while you were at home not answering your phone! lol yeaaa this phone will definitely provide the "big brother" aspect to the daily lives of many...

I'm actually developing this, not for spying on your kids but for when u can't find ur phone or it's stolen. And you won't need the transmitters just uses the gps in the g1 and sends coords to a secure webserver where u can view the map online. Hope To get the site online within the next week and the app officialy released about a week after the 22nd.

Exactly and depending on how popular it gets I may even make a retrieval business like if it's in another state LOL

I'd consider licensing your code out to a company like the one that does Lo-Jack for laptops. I'm sure they'd love to host the service and only charge a fee for the software if the phone is retrieved.

hmm maybe after I get all the users first who uses the appstore on their iPhone after like 2 months I'm debating on pricing cause the numbers from tap tap revenge sales made me want to make this so it won't be free but it won't be overpriced. Remember there's a service supporting the app aswell which takes $/month to keep online

http://www.accutracking.com offers a similar service. software is free but it cost like 5 bux a month for the tracking service..................
it works on boos mobile, WM devices and they are currently developing an application for the android platform.....
