Google just updated It's maps website to include street view. http://lifehacker.com/5098970/google...on-street-view

I like that it shows the directions in street view, It would be really cool if the G1 maps application get this.

They obviously don't know what "Front and center" means, being that "peg guy" is over on the left side of the screen, but yeah, I noticed this just earlier today when I was showing a coworker where a store was locally.

I'm glad they DON'T have that in the phone. I like being able to load the map and just the map, load the street view when I want/need it, and etc. I don't want any more code running on this hardware than is absolutely necessary to accomplish my tasks. The more fluff you add, the slower and more cumbersome it will get. I think they did pretty d***ed good in the phone WRT maps, if you ask me.

Now, sitting at a full-featured desktop workstation, heck yeah, great job, G!
