For God's sake what am I doing wrong.

I have followed all the directions I can find to get Tunes Remote to work.

I tried the ipconfig/release ipconfig/renew deal and now I am just confused. whatismyip.com gives me one set of numbers and the cmd ipconfig gives me another set.

Nothing seems to work at all. I have a Verizon Fios Wireless connection at my house- my G1 connects to it just fine. I have made sure I have the latest version of Itunes but still nothing works.

I am running windows XP but I never get the prompt for "device" in itunes on the left side of my screen. Even when I go into preferences and select device there is nothing there.

    Please help

First off, you need to find out your IP address. You can find out what it is at: http://www.whatismyip.com
You will see a section that says "Your IP address is..." Make sure you write down the numbers including the periods (Note: save this for later).

Next, open iTunes. Navigate your way to EDIT > PREFERENCES > SHARING.
Make sure "Look for shared libraries," "Share my library on my local network," and "Share entire library" are checked.

Also, make sure "Require password" is checked. In the empty box next to it, type a 4-digit number. (Note: you will use this number later on, so remember it.)

    On your T-mobile G1:

Navigate your way to MENU > SETTINGS > WIRELESS CONTROLS > Wi-Fi
Make sure Wi-Fi is enabled and connected to your home network, or the same network your using for the internet.

You can double check this by going to MENU > SETTINGS > WIRELESS CONTROLS > Wi-Fi SETTINGS

And look under Wi-Fi NETWORKS to see if you're connected to the right wireless router.

Next, if you already haven't done so, download and install TunesRemote. Open TunesRemote.

    Click MENU > MANUAL ADD
Remember that IP address from earlier? Okay now enter it (all the numbers and periods) in the box that says "IP address".

Next, enter that 4-digit number from earlier into the box that says "Pairing Code".

    Now, click CONNECT.

Read the on-screen instructions that come up after that.

You should see the name "Android Device" pop up under "Devices" on the left hand side of your the iTunes program you have running on your computer. Click "Android Device" then enter the 4-digit code from earlier. Then click "OK"

Next, on your T-Mobile G1, click MENU, then the rest is easy to figure out.

    You're all done! Enjoy!

Thanks queenaminaasha, but I have done every single step on that instruction sheet and still nothing. For what it's worth I can't get Gmote to work either.

    Hi,

Do I have to enter the IP address into the app myself ?

Shouldnt there be a list of all computers running iTunes on the network shwoing automatically ?

    TIA

I really dont want to use gmote and for some reason itunes finds my g1, then tries to pair, but somehow finds another device which is still my g1 and it goes between the 2 g1 devices it thinks i have, while the one i do have, connects for a brief moment before then asking to pair again.
So it connects to the g1, immediately creates a second g1
and the 2 switch of trying to pair with itunes.
Ive re installed the remote, and cleared the info, changed passwords and everything
    Im super lost
    please help!!!!

hey, For anyone still having a problem. my phone would not connect untill i had sync'd my ipod. im not sure whether it was because i had never plugged in my ipod since i installed itunes on this pc but either way, once i had sync'd i got a devices list on the left of itunes and then my andoid device appeared in that list above my ipod.
it would seem that maybe a lack of a device list in the left side stops you from ever seeing the android remote
    hope that helps.
