I had this problem, and an iPod sync would make it work, but only once. Tunes Remote was updated recently and I havent had any problems pairing my Droid to iTunes 9, although the app sometimes crashes when I open certain albums, these problems are more tolerable.
Hope that this app continues to improve. Anyone who had problems using Tunes Remote should try the new version!
Hello everybody,
I rencently install TuneRemote on my HTC Hero.
Just what I was looking for.
What I can do
- play/stop/pause/fwd/rwd :-)
- change artist/albums
- play album (long press on the album)
What I CAN'T do
- play a track: message "no tracks for this album" (but if I play all the album it's ok)
- view & play playlists
When I changed current play (when selecting anonteher album), iTunes create a playlist "Remote"
For the configuration:
- automatic paring doesn't work, I have to do it manually everytimes I start the tune remote :-(
PS:
- open port is ok, firewall is ok
- shared library on iTunes is done
- iTunes last verion, all 4 iPods synchronized
- XP Home, HTC Hero with Android 1.5
- I try GMote, it's working fine, but no "find" functions, no album art, slow, ...
Can you help me for the pairing problem, and "no tracks found" ???
Can anyone tell me why when I enter the pairing code in Itunes the pairing screen on my phone does not disappear and just gets stuck there. I have to enter my IP address manually but everything seams to be working until that last step.
I'm connected to my wireless network, android device shows up in Itunes and then that is it. It does not go any further to allow me to see my library. My phone is the HTC Hero. Maybe it has something to do with trying to get it to work on Windows 7? Please help.
Did you have any problems at the last step after entering the pairing code. My phones pairing code screen goes away for a second and then comes righ back and will not go away. In the background you can see that is still seaching for a library.
Hey. I had the same problem, but heres a solution that works for me.
I was sure iTunes was the problem because http://localhost:3689/server-info was working inconsistently. When iTunes is open, you should be able to open this page or else there is no way TunesRemote is gonna connect
SOLUTION FOR ME: close the iTunes Helper service in Activity Monitor (make sure it isnt starting with your computer also. System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items)
Hope this helps!

Okay. Got as far as pairing with the 4-digit code I entered earlier. My device shows on iTunes. I click the icon, it asks for the 4-digit code, so I enter it. iTunes says
"Your remote is not able to control iTune". However, my G1 phone has the window "Tunes Remote. Pairing with Library. Your Android devise is now in pairing mode, and should appear in your desktop/laptop media player. You'll need to enter a 4-digit code to finish the process:
0000
After entering the code on your desktop/laptop, this window should disappear. If you get stuck, just tap the back button to cancel."
So, this window never goes away, so I do the back button and have to re-enter my IP & 4-digit code again and it does the same thing.
OK I got it to work on my HTC Eris after much trial and error.
Open iTunes then go to Edit>Preferences...
>Sharing
Check boxes "Share my library on my local network" and
"Required password:" lets use "0001" for an example
>Devices
Make sure that "Allow iTunes control from remote speakers" is checked.
Now for the firewall part. I have avast internet security but it should be the same for other firewall programs. In the firewall tab look for the "application rules" then look for iTunes. Change the Inbound ports to "All" or "49681" instead of "3689".
Go to the phone now and make sure you are connected to your network via wifi on the phone. Open up Tunes Remote and it should automatically pick up your library in iTunes. If not manually type your IP address. Then your iTunes sharing password. In this case it would be "0001".
You should now see the Android Device pop up in the left side of iTunes bar. Click on that and type in the paring code "0000". If everything goes well then it should work. Good luck and hope this helps.
HTC Eris running Android 2.1
Windows 7
iTunes version 9.1.0.79
