Default Mark/Space says no android Missing Synch

I ran across an application called Missing Synch designed by Mark/Space (www.markspace.com) that synchs Macs to smart phones (using Windows Mobile, Symbian, Blackberry, or Palm). I wrote to them and asked if they were planning an android version. They said NO - but that they would "continue to keep a close eye on this platform".

A little discouraging - I wonder how quickly developers are going to jump into developing apps for android? Are they going to wait and see? Does anyone know - is Google priming the pump with apps? Does Google have it's own internal team of developers working on any basic apps to kick start this market?

Well I would expect that from company that is in closer relation with Apple. If it was otherwise it should not matter what platform you are supporting - you have consumers to use your app. I strongly believe there will be someone to have this app perfectly made for G1

Why is it that people want an OS-bound app to sync the G1 when it already syncs automatically to the Google servers (sort of the whole point of owning one) and supports USB mass-storage for moving files between the phone and a computer?

maybe because people are so used to synching their smartphones\pda's with outlook over the past several years, it's just going to take awhile to get used to the new process. me, i'm still admittedly comfortable synching with outlook. i guess the feeling of knowing your info is saved physically on your own pc makes some people feel more secure. to each his own i guess.

    I absolutely agree.
But I've also heard that Google is revamping the Contacts section in Gmail - that's simply not good enough at the moment - and this may change things...
For the moment, if G1 doesn't handle Contacts and Calendar Sync, I won't be able to use it...
