It might sound incredibly basic, but I didn't see an application for Android for simply taking notes.
I'm ditching my Sidekick for the G1 and use the Notes app frequently to jot down numbers, names, books or movies I want, etc...
I'm sure there's a Notes app out there (I've seen the dev sample-app screen shots) but how come it wasn't included in the OS?
Need to be able to import Outlook notes also.......
Whatever Apps you want on the g1 the great thing about the open source phone is that it will be developed eventually. At first I was upset it dident have a video camera but I know the app will be developed. Same with multi touch, same with note taker.
The tutorial material provided in the SDK is primarily for a Notepad. It's functional and can be extended (I haven't added copy/paste to it, yet). If anyone wants to play with that, I can package it up and paste it here, though I imagine Google will provide full-featured versions of a few apps like this on the Android Market.

Here's some apps that are already ready, once the G1 is out the market will explode.

Notes application, yep. I'll even go so far as to say we need a text editor. If I'm waiting in line at the DMV, I might just edit some html or php scripts. And I'll need a putty client and ftp client too.

I feel like learning to write an app and to make it a Basic Notes, Notepad, etc lol - I am sure someone will be getting onto that very soon.
The reason why we see all more structured apps is the reason of the contest Google had, than companies interested in new direction in software technology that comes with Android OS.
