PdaNet has been one of the most popular software for Windows Mobile phones, Palm OS phones and the iPhone. It is now ported to the Android system! Unlike other tethering software that only supports Proxy connections, PdaNet provides you with FULL Internet access so all your email, instant message programs will work without any setting changes on the computer. Just like the old PdaNet, it is as simple as one click and your computer will go online instantly.
PdaNet does NOT require root access or hacking your phone's firmware. It works on all Android phones as-is. Currently this initial version supports USB tethering on the T-Mobile G1 phone. Tethering is secure and will also charge your phone at the same time.
You can follow the latest update of PdaNet for Android at

PdaNet only goes through the data plan on your phone.
Enjoy!

I look forward to testing this out after work today!
Does tethering with this app require root access? Thanks.
I will trial this I guess.. I guess there will be a time when having tethering via wifi just wont cut it.. But at the same time.. if I don;t have my laptop to tether to its wireless, then chances are I don;t have my USB cords to tether to anybody else's devices either..
I guess that is prob the #1 thing HTC and BB have going for them - you can charge your phone with just about anybodies camera charger cord.
I tried it, it works just as described. Pretty painless setup, just like a normal windows app. Awesome work by the developers.
Very interesting. I still like being able to hit a button and put my phone in my pocket and have internet access on my netbook. But I suppose on longer trips, being able to charge the phone as well would be a plus.
I like the idea but 30ish seems like steep price.... Until the price drops, i will still with my free wifi tether method..
cant put this damn phone down...
I thought it was a trial? I couldnt install it since am at work. I just clicked on the other tabs and i saw the price for the windows and iphone devices.
nvm, i guess its free.... nothing beats free!![]()
cant put this damn phone down...
