Its an old JF. Update the radio. Try Cyanogen 3.6.8.1 and his recovery console 1.3.1. Here is the link to both. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=537204

is it ok to root a phone with crc1 build on it? My buddy saw my phone with the new jacXrom on it and now want's to root.
Yea , its ok
thanks I will pass this info on. I appriciate all the answers given to me by you simms22
Well I have successfully rooted my G1, thanks to all! I am doing this with the intent of using my phone as a tether for my laptop. There's a problem though. When I go into terminal emulator, it still denies me su access. I try "cd sdcard" but no luck, it says "can't cd to sdcard". What gives??
Edit: never mind I'm retarded. "cd /sdcard" works fine forgot to add the slash. So what is this "Hero" I keep reading about?

Quick question here - I'm pretty sure what I'm about to do is correct, but I'd love some confirmation on that before proceeding. I'm about to root my G1 w/ cupcake using the instructions in the first post of this thread. Since the post was made, there have obviously been a bunch of new ROMs, and I plan on using Cyanogen's 3.6.8.1 ROM. Can I simply rename the new cyanogen rom to update.zip and use this file with the files I downloaded as per the instructions in the original post? It looks like the original update.zip is an old JF ROM, and I just want to make sure I can skip this and go straight to the latest cyanogen image. Thanks so much!
