Lightbulb ShapeWriter as G1 Virtual Keyboard?

I've been looking at the Android Developer Challenge finalist applications and I must say that ShapeWriter looks pretty cool! In fact, I think I would like to have this as a virtual keyboard for the G1. I wonder if it will be configurable as such...

Take a look and see what you think. Here is a link to a movie which describes its operation well:

Personally, I think the atomic keyboard would work well in the portrait orientation of the G1.

    Thoughts?

One-handed operation is the main reason I want a virtual keyboard. It appears on the video that you can peck on this keyboard OR use the strokes. The atomic keyboard appears to be well shaped for portrait use.

Anyway, you could be right, but I think this is one app I will try, especially if free for a while.

I'm still wondering how you get a virtual keyboard to pop up in Android...

I've used it on iphone, and I was VERY VERY bad at it. It's a really cool concept, and maybe with practice I would improve a lot, but probably only 50% of the words I "typed" ended up being right.

interesting but old school typing is the reason I am drawn to the G1 to begin with.

Exclamation Re: ShapeWriter as G1 Virtual Keyboard?

I also have used it, as well as similar functions for old Palms and honestly I just can't stand anything with such a learning curve. Don't Panic, someone will undoubtedly develop a virtual keyboard application that runs quietly in the background waiting for you to touch it; such a simple application.

About texting while driving... I got road raged at by a soccer mom yesterday driving from work for doing so.. In cailfornia we have passed laws against cellular telephone use without a hands free device, so she took it upon herself to let me know I am the "anti-christ" for ignoring such Screaming, spattering phlegm, and swerving so as she didn't need to watch the road, as she accosted me with her head hanging from the window of her Nissan; her children screamed... I quietly texted on knowing I have never been in a traffic collision; that's when I saw the flashing lights. My diluted point(s)? It's not always the device, it can be the user; and even the police here know that there should be a crime against stupidity and rage, not doing mindless things while driving..

Things not illegal in Ca. while driving, while clel use still is:
    Eating (even with chopsticks)
    Nursing child
    Doing Make-up
Talking to all others in vehicle, while not watching road
I have yet to hear of someone being actually ticketed for their 'driver visible' dvd screen to be running while driving, although it is highly illegal, and you see it at every stoplight
You can dance around and sing with your friends
    Get dressed
    Get mostly undressed
    play with your dog
    Use a video camera
Use a still camera (I saw this cause a big rig accident going to reno a few months back - one car back)
All quickly off the top of my head...

Anyways I am bitter. First they should think about some of these things, then take away phone use. Outlaw driving while mentally disabled like the people who try to run my Acura off of the road everyday, before you hold me down from something I am completely capable of doing. It reminds me of some of the problems in our school system; often times if there is one under-achieving child, the truly gifted children will be held back at the pace of the under achiever.. Stereotyping cell phone users based on the actions of the dim.. The people who caused accidents talking or texting would have caused an accident doing something else - If you have ever owned a really low profile or small car, in a state dominated by massive SUV and mothership-like minivans- You Would Know.

Thank you for hearing my gripe.
