Spotify on Android - Official Announcement

Spotify has given a demo of their official version for Android at the Google I/O Developer Conference. There's a video at:

Note this lets you play tracks offline when out of service range.

Spotify also recently announced plans to expand to the US...

Why isn't this on the front page as big news? I wonder the admin's choice of news stories sometimes. This app could change Android's popularity and be a huge marketing tool to go against Apple's iTunes domination with the iPhone.

The offline sync is such a perfect idea (quite similar to how the PC version works as you can instantly go back to tracks you've listened to). I wonder what its performance is on 3G? I noticed it was on Wi-Fi, so maybe they haven't got the 3G performance quite right yet.

I will be getting this as soon as this comes out, damn right!

they have sent spotify to apple for approval but where is out version.

just wondering why they haven't given us our version for android, they must have spent ages developing it for iphone when they must know apple is very unlikely to accept it.

i would be very surprised if Apple allows the apps....very surprised.

the android version was demo'ed few months ago. i was expecting to see it before that of apple's,if at all its allowed.
