Street view should be on memory cards :)
I think it would be great idea to have street view PACKED into the data file, downloaded from google and stored onto the memory card. Let say you live in Chicago - You download complete ChicagoLand onto your memory card and you are good to go. Only if you are located somewhere else and you need steretView you can download it as needed.
I think this would save a lots of bandwith to Tmobile at first and it would help end users ... what Android Crew thinks about this?

All of Chicago on a memory card...I'd imagine it would take a lot of memory to store street view of every street in Chicago. Don't know it would be practical.

That's what I was thinking... now, imagine whole Canada, United States and Hawaii on one 2GB SD card with 1.5GB of data installed... Wouldn't Google be able to shrink the size of the pictures a little bit with their magic?

Or what about giving the user the option to save areas to their card. This seems like a better idea to me. You could save only the cities/states you want and if they ever get updated street views then you could update them as well. Just my two cents.Originally Posted by NetCom

i agree this would be great if they can implement this into the next update or if some devs can write up an app to save maps and load them quicker on to our map app.

I like the idea of preloaded maps onto the SD card... like a GPS Navi device. I think the actual map data has a better chance to make it onto a card than StreetView due to its data intensity.
Maybe someone can come up with a service that will allow you to download certain packets into the cache (SD).

there is a guy who was on here the other day with an app that does this, he was looking for testers, it was a really strong start for an app.
try searching big planet and map or something like that.
of course it didn't have streetview i don't think, but the developer wanted feedback.
