Thread: The Way we pay for Paid Apps....

Thumbs down Re: The Way we pay for Paid Apps....

this is really annoying, so you cant use a debit card to pay for any applications, and as a student, i dont own a credit card, so am i just to resign to the fact i will not be able to get these apps on my phone?

they should be added on to your monthly bill and have done with it, or let you purchase it online allowing you to sync with your phone or SOMETHING

You can buy then if your debit card has a VISA/Mastercard logo

I would also rather have them add the app amount onto my monthly bill. I don't feel safe typing my credit card info in order to pay for the app through the phone.

shame solo card is maestro then. i don't have a proper debit card and just finished university without a job so have no chance of getting a credit card.

it's 2009. why is everyone afraid to make purchases with a debit card??? i've ordered hundreds of items online over the years. my identity is still intact. yes, things can go wrong. as long as the site you're purchasing from begins with https, you're pretty safe. probably safer than walking through my neighborhood at night unarmed.
how many of us have thousands of dollars in our accounts anyways? i only deposit money in my main checking acct. for purchases when i know i'm going to order something. so the money isn't even there that long to be stolen. the odds are so slim. and you'd most likely be reimbursed from your bank.

Why is everyone so paranoid about Visa cards? Google is not going to be doing anything with it. The purchasing of apps is secure. If someone does get your number and starts spending unusual amounts of money, Visa alerts you and all you have to say is "Nope, I did not purchase that, freeze the card" and the number gets disabled and you pay none of the stolen money. If you are that scared about it getting stolen, set a spending cap on it. The minimum is $300, so even if it did get stolen, and Visa refused to pay for any of the illegitimate purchases, you pay a maximum of $300. And if you are even more paranoid, just go buy one of those Visa gift cards.......

Speaking at a joint T-Mobile and Google media event in San Francisco yesterday, Google's VP of engineering Andy Rubin talked about future versions of the Android OS and how the platform is poised to become more social.
Rubin revealed that future Android updates will will support more social-networking features. “Social is a big push for now,” he said, adding that eventually inbound calls could display caller photo's, name, and their last Facebook or Twitter update, for example.
With the previous Android update known as "Cupcake", Rubin added that Google had been naming each new Android release after a dessert, revealing future codenames to include "Donut," "Eclair" and "Flan".
Along with changes to the Android platform itself, Google are also looking at new ways for Android developers to charge for their apps - other than the Android Market.
Whilst the Android Market currently only supports Google Checkout, the eventual plan is to offer multiple billing systems, and even allow customers to charge application purchases directly to their T-Mobile account.
