I agree. I was hoping this feature would be available when the phone was first announced. One reason I got the @Home service a while back.
Noted though this is a hardware feature. If hardware is not in place it will not work.
I believe that an application allowing for UMA support should be developed. I would pay for this product if found effective and efficient. It already has the Wi-Fi capability so i am guessing a mere software upgrade would be needed as blackberry did it with video capture support. I am calling upon all APP developers to come out with an APP for UMA support. I would pay for a product like this. Thank You.

Sorry its never going to happen. UMA needs an entirely different hardare chipset, So no matter what software they develop its not gonna happen. I agree though it should have been included with the G1 but its not.
ok then. i then call upon t-mobile, google. and or any third party company to develop a program that allows people to senf texts via wifi connection. again i wouls pay for either the service or the program....
Chip set has the support, so hardware does support it.

ahhh, lack of UMA support in Android is the only thing holding me back to phones like Nokia 6086/6301 or my current Samsung Katalyst (sgh-t739) ... i'd love to upgrade to a nice touch screen smartphone with UMA (WiFi calling) support. T-mobile in USA did a great job finally with it and H@H works pretty flawlessly for me (with some turbulence a year ago) for 1.5 years so far or so.
please, tell me G2 will have it.
