Default Mobile web server? Perl? Python?

So, I'm sitting here looking at my 18 month old Nokia N95 and I notice that, among other things, it can run a mobile web server (see http://mymobilesite.net/news/18/), Perl and Python and I'm wondering if these things are in the works for Android/G1? Granted, it opens your phone up to some serious hacking but it also offers loads of possibilities.

    Anyone know?

That's the whole point of Android. It will happen, either at the start or through a 3rd party app and/or update.

I'm think a GPS app that that just keeps your coordinates on a webpage. You could also make a web-cam server. Hmmm... a webserver on the phone... interesting.

Seriously, give this some thought. The app for the Nokia is an Apache web server running python. With it, you can grant access, on a per-user basis, to many of the phone's features, including the camera. Through the mobile portal, users that you've authorized can chat with you via web chat, IM or test message, browse through your pix, see where you are (according to your GPS) and even read and comment on your blog (which is on your phone). Yeah, it may drain your battery a bit faster but it's only really burning CPU when someone's logged in to it. But, hey, isn't that what a charger's for?

I dunno, I can think of a lot of useful things I could do with this on a phone as powerful as the Android. Heck, it's killer on the N95 ... imagine what you could do with an OHA phone?

This is the craziest idea ever. I'm just putting that out there.

    Crazy.

    I love it.

Quite an old thread. Nonethless interesting. I'm sure you could set up such a thing now with SL4A. Which is an amazing thing btw
