This looks very interesting indeed. I will think about it and let you know if there are any I can think of. If you decide you need beta testers this would definitely be the right forum to ask for help.

    Hi all,

you can download the AndRemote--Beta here:Note: You will need the server-tool on your desktop-pc too:
This version is watermarked, so please do not try to hack it, etc...

I'll give you no further usage-instructions, so I'll get a first hand user experience.

I'm looking forward to any feedback

    Best Regards,
    Nicolas

I downloaded the layout builder and started putting something together. I was wondering what I need to consider when choosing a background. The size etc. I'm guessing that it's beyond the scope of this app to get information back from whatever it is controlling.

    I'm enjoying this!

What you need to consider most is the screen-orientation. Second is the width-height relation.

If you have a 480(width)x320(height) background for landscape, it will look perfect for 320x240 screens and 640x480 screens. On i.e. the 'Droid' with a 850x480 screen it would be stretched by its width, while being fully functional.
(I could not test this, but this is what it should be doing when looking my code =D )

As you may have noticed so far, you cannot yet load back a created layout to modify it with the Builder later on.(You have to start from a blank one now) But I'm working on this.

    Best Regards,
    Nicolas

I want to thank 'Chokkan' for the first user-contributed layout: 'Sonata Remote'(Control playback of Sonata music player.)

I updated the "Downoad Layouts"-List of the Client to be sortable, it also has indicators which layouts are already installed and which have updates ready for you.

    Best Regards,
    Nicolas

Next version (very soon) offers Layout-Developers an option to have 'smooth' MouseMovement-Commands and 'smooth' MouseAreas.
'smooth' means that the cursor will be interpolated, as before the amount of MotionEvents produced by Android did not scale well to the bigger pc-screen.

    Also improved detection of disconnects.

    Nicolas
