they should totally make a site where we can upload the apk's that are paid for so that we can all get it for free...that way only one person has to take a shot to the wallet lol

That wouldnt "squash" piracy at all.

Look at the iphone, all app store purchases are tied to an itunes account, yet it's ridiculously easy to get pirated copies of anything and everything from the app store.

i dont know much about the iphone but wouldnt you need it jailbroken to install something from outside of the app store?
