Hi!
We are two developers (brothers actually) who are porting our football application to the Android platform. You can see some screenshots here:

and Android specific screenshots (download is not yet available):

The question I want to ask is, would you pay for an application like this on the Android? I'm wondering if Android users are the kind of users that expect everything to be free, while the iPhone users buy all sort of crap they can get their hands on?
If the Android Market is dominated by free applications then I'm wondering if there will be a market for commercial products. Any opinions?
For those of us in the US, he is talking about a SOCCER application.

I personally wouldn't pay anything for it, but thats just because I don't like soccer. If a program like that was made for American (college) Football, I'd be interested.
And as for the free/paid thing... I think that if an application is made that fits someone's specific needs, works the way it should, and is visually pleasing... people will definitely pay for them.

well, if its designed well enough, if there wasnt some kind of contract deal with verizon, i would like it if espn developed a sports program. im gonna need a program for football and baseball, or an overall sports program though
I'm betting your Application will do well after the European launch of the G1. I don't think you'll have any problem with Android adopters any more than iPhone adopters. Speaking for myself I have no problem purchasing software that does what I need or want it to do.
I can't speak for the whole community but I suspect we are not all looking for a free ride because the OS is open source.

Yeah, youre not going to get a big demand for it in the US. Not many people are die-hard soccer fans.

I would be interested if this were created for Major League Soccer (MLS).

We all have to remember that this phone is going to be sold in Europe as well.. I think in the UK by early Nov and I know they are die hard football fans... I am a big American Football fan and if there was an app for that...I probably would buy it. So I know many people in the UK might buy your application.
