Ok so I'm currently using an unlocked/jailbroken iPhone & love the fact that all of the coders make tons & tons of free apps. I have no prob paying for some, but do you think were gonna have to pay for all of them, or are the coders on Android gonna show us some free love too?
Hoping for some free love... the more simple apps will be free... others will be cheap... then maybe some people trying to make some money selling their app for a lot... and not selling any... i just wish you could charge these apps to your t-mobile account. don't like how you have to use a visa.. and then t-mobile distributes the money to the developers. and maybe take 10%... not that bad.

Last I checked all apps are free for the moment. Might start seeing some that we pay for in a months time.
i forget where i read it now, but supposedly at least for 1.0 all the android market apps were gonna be free
All the apps will be free for now since the android market is still in beta. It will probably take a couple of months before they integrate the billing part into the system. I really can't imagine that they will charge you from your TMobile bill and I don't think that TMobile is planning on taking a cut.
I would really love it if they integrated it with Google Checkout as I already have an account with them.

A free app market. That is such a bizarre concept to me. Wow. It is going to be like Supermarket Sweep in my phone. I am going to download them all even if I don't want them. Gluttony. Yum.
Here's a little tid bit that a lot of people aren't discussing...the G1 was stated as being the "free application" phone when it forst came out. Isn't it a little ironic that once they started seeing the buyers of their phone that apps for pay have started showing up?
If I wanted to have to pay for apps...I would've thrown my money away to Apple for he iphone.
I do not mind paying for some apps but some of the apps I think are overpriced. .99 here or even $5 for game is cool but I saw an app for $14.99. Only if it makes me breakfast!
I never heard the G1 being touted as the "free application" phone. It was only referred to as having Android OS and being open-sourced. Open-sourced does not equal free.
Google had said from the very start, that all apps would be free for approximately the first three months, then after that, developers would be able to charge for their apps.
Besides, why would you want to spend your time developing apps if you couldn't get anything in return for your hard work?

I think that's the biggest misconception people have. (Open Source = Free) This is not true at all. Sure open source MAY have free alternative to paid apps, but just being open source does not make everything free. Knowing many developers in my past, I know how much they put into apps they create, I'm actually surprised at the number of 'free' apps we've had even though developers have to PAY to get in on the market.
