That's genius -- spend close to $200 for a device and if it doesn't have a single feature, literally throw that $200 away and spend more money to buy another phone that will never have said feature. It must be great knowing that your job is secure in these difficult economic times -- so secure that you can more than afford to throw away $200 here and there.

You work at a bank, don't you?

Maybe that's the point of these smartphones lacking "basic" functionality like MMS -- why use MMS when you can use email, which is much more robust and doesn't cost $0.10 per message?

Also I find it extremely ironic that you state "looks aren't everything" yet go on to say that you "can't even get animation on the home screen".

nope,i don't work at a bank. but i promise you'll be the first to see me burning rubber on my g1. "spend more money to buy another phone that will never have said feature. " what does that mean exactly? i already have an older phone with this feature-a2dp. it's pretty common among even cheaper phones. as far as the mms, have you ever tried sending an animated gif? the os doesn't even recognize it. lame. i know it's trivial, but we all have that gf\wife who sends us that stuff. it's embarrassing that i can't respond. i have to send a static image.big time lame. and if they don't work out a way to delete more than one email at a time, i'm gonna take a 20 minute ride to niagara falls and let it float over the falls. i'll make a floatation device, strap the g1 to it and film it going over, lol. it's my phone and my money. don't let it upset you.

In the first few sentences of the article, the author simultaneously states that t-mobile "confirms" that cupcake will be released, while quoting an actual spokesperson from t-mo who says it's just a rumor. Truth is, t-mo hasn't confirmed a dang thing, and for the author to say so in the same sentence as a t-mo spokesperson is quoted to the contrary is, well, quite hilarious actually.

Secondly, the author mentions a number of features that are stated not to be in the RC33 update that we all got, including google latitude and voice search. These items are indeed part of that update, as I know most of us can attest since we received it.

I'm sorry to say it, this is a bad article overall. If we're gonna get the rumor mill going, we might as well have an article with some credibility behind it as the catalyst.
Exactly what i was thinking. I'm not a journalist but at least get the facts straight. This would totally confuse anyone thinking about buying a G1.

Yeah, I'm not going to hold my breath for cupcake. I figure if it pops up next month, great, I'll be surprised and happy. If not, I won't be disappointed.

Why oh why did i buy this crap phone took me ages to get latitude on the thing in the uk.

if this phone never gets a2dp, i will setup my camcorder in the street, and continuosly run over my g1 and post it to youtube. i will then either go back to winmo or just get me a jitterbug. i'll give it a couple more months. i'm tired of this os anyways. looks aren't everything. the email is from the stone ages. no animated mms? what's the point? i can just send a picture in an email. i can't even get animation on the home screen. that's trivial, but there are so many things about this os that leave me feeling like i got ripped off. just my 2 cents.
