Some of you may be getting sick of seeing the same Android news over and over again while hoping for something new. Sadly this post is just another story with a different look. Multi-touch has been demonstrated on the T-Mobile G1 before, but here we ... Read more
Very cool. Perhaps Google was a bit rushed to release the phone and hoped to demonstrate multi-touch at a later time? I feel that many smart phones these days tend to be born at the base of their full capabilities. I have my fingers crossed for the "Cupcake" update to be released soon and furthermore hope to see multitouch within the foreseeable future for the G1.
is there any possible way of completely rewriting the touch screen function to make it similar to the iphone?
sweeeet, ah the beauty of open-source![]()
Good to see it works for zooming! Even at this early stage. That's all people really want it for anyway. Tweak away folks!!!
Every time I see videos about the possibilities of our Android devices, it seriously makes me happy. HAHA! If only I were a programmer, honestly, the possibilities are endless and I cant wait to see what the future holds.
Fyi -
the reason we do not have the various multi touch functions the iphone has is because of patents they own for the "gestures". Not because our phone can not do it.
In fact, iirc, the touch screen in our phone is identical to the iphones, in fact made by the same company.....
So this is going to bring into question if the developers will be able to use these gestures without paying mac for the patent use.....
WOW - this guy is brilliant!
I cant believe I'm seeing pinch-zoom working perfectly on a stock G1.. this is AWESOME.. man i hope some devs start incorporating this into some apps!
I have been DYING for pinch zoom in a browser...
Great work!
GREAT
WORK!
I hope that JesusFreke incorporates the Java change into his modded RC30, so that then application developers can start making use of it.
