it will not have to be "modified" to be flashed into JF RC30v1.3, so much as re-signed with the test keys at minimum. Of course, if Google/Tmo have been sneaky and re-write the SPL to exclude test keys or replace the recovery.img with their own, flashing manually OTA RC31 will certainly threaten further modding and could also take away root access. I'm gonna hold tight and let the experts dissect "cupcayyke" to make sure. Look before I leap

I would consider taking the stock update ad re-signing it with the test keys modifying something, wouldn't you? all i meant was you can't get it over the air if you have modified rc30 anyways, so you would have to wait for them to resign it, and to do anything else they end up needing to for rc31.

I still wouldn't take a T-mobile G1 specialist word as "fact." That developer actually working on the cupcake branch is probably the most authoritative one to speak on it so far and she was the most skeptical about it getting out anytime soon. Until I hear otherwise, everything else is rumor. And that blog is not too trustworthy.

I'm hearing "cupcake elements" and instantly became skeptical of which parts of cupcake will be included, like we'll get 80% of the planned changes of cupcake such as onscreen keyboard & browser improvements but camera recorder isn't a definite??

Assuming this info is confirmed by a developer who's actually hands on with the Android source then I'm pretty stoked but won't be surprised if some of the more complex features such as video recorder will be missing until RC-32 or something.
