the $19.99 family plan is an unlimited text plan for a family plan.
I am not sure if T-Mobile will allow you to switch to the Total Internet Plan ($19.99) after you receive your G1. Anyway, most people log into my.t-mobile, and change the internet service from there. However, when you are logged in, you have to change the phone in you profile to another phone (except blackberries and sidekicks and G1 of course), and the option for the $19.99 data plan will be available for you to choose. The option will not be available if the G1 (or sidekick or blackberry) is the phone in your profile.

The blackberry Pearl 8220 on T-mobile USA will be selling this fall and it will be priced on higher side then expected, may be it will see a price drop like BOLD did in Canada.
    here are the prices
New Activation 2 Year Contract $149.99 (after $50 MIR)
New Activation 1 Year Contract $199.99 (after $50 MIR)
Full Upgrade 2 Year Contract $167.99 (after $50 MIR)
Full Upgrade 1 Year Contract $217.99 (after $50 MIR)
    Retail Price: $349.99
    Dealer Price: $249.99.

Question Re: First T-Mobile G1 user review

Unclear about the plan fees....G1 is $25 with 400 text and unlimited is $35. The $19.95 data is EDGE correct....For those of us in G3 coverage the fee is $25 (with 400 text) or $35 no if-and-or buts, however, if I am understanding, those with the unlimited text family plans can keep them with the $25 G3 coverage (I have the grandfather unlimited family text @ $9.95) thereby costing me $25 for G3 and $9.95 for up to 5 lines for unlimited text, which is a better deal than the $35 for G3 and unlimited per each and every G1 phone.....

wow, you're so lucky! how'd you manage getting it today? Anyway, my best suggestion is to create a new thread and post this there. One thing I think you could try is sighing the 19.99 internet plan, but I have no clue.

There is a thread about going into safe mode on your G1. It said that you need to hold the "menu" button down during the whole start up of your phone.
