So just a couple of days ago we talked about the Eris Android phone. Which, by the way, will be made by HTC, not Motorola, and will have the DROID moniker too. And yes, it will also be sold by the Big Red. So, can you hear me now?

If you are one of the few that are not sold into the Motorola DROID, or maybe you just don't want to shell out two Benjamins for it. Well, there is a solution, in the form of another DROID phone coming from Verizon, the HTC DROID Eris. Not as cool as the Motorola DROID, but hey, you might like the Eris better. Who knows?
You also have to remember that the DROID Eris by HTC will arrive with the nice SENSE UI from the Hero, as you can see on the images on this post. The Verizon DROID Eris by HTC will be Verizon?s second Android phone and will be priced at $99.99, after the unforgiving rebates and a two year agreement that is. And is believed to be Big Red's version of the HTC Hero.

That's the one for me! I don't care for the Droid's form factor or gold theme. I have been researching the Eris and although it ships with 1.5, it's sure to get 2.0 at some point. Htc Eris is to my liking. I've also heard about the soon to be released HTC Passion which will ship w 2.0 but will have a price to match. No thanks.
I'll be happy w my Eris...Oh, hello. I'm droidnut.

The Droid Eris is a solid piece of hardware, although not up-to-par with the specs of the Moto Droid (obviously). I am a fan of HTC hardware... so I would naturally lean towards the Eris over the Droid, but the Droid has some attractive features.
It will be even nicer for the Eris once HTC releases their new Sense UI built on Android 2.0
The one gripe I have about the Eris, compare to the other HTC Heros, is the wasted space and design of the bottom "chin area". The Sprint Hero looks pretty sexy and the button layout is nice... but the Eris uses those touch-sensitive buttons built into the bottom of the screen area and the "chin" seems to be empty. Only having a trackball and a call/end button seems pointless... why not extend the screen the full length of the device and drop the trackball and those 2 buttons? That would have been much sexier.
It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me
The HTC Hero is having issues with dust in the screen because of the action plate setup design. I think that's why the Eris is more "sealed" as it is.
I had the Hero for 3 weeks on Sprint, but returned is because of poor coverage. I liked it for the most part.
There are alot of software bugs with the Hero that HTC is releasing "soon", but I'm hoping the Eris doesn't have those same issues.
* Headphone mono bug
* headphone static/noise
* SMS battery drain bug (workaround is using Handcent SMS)
etc...
etc...
damn... almost all the good htc phones is not for t-mobile.. and i practicly jizzed when i saw this!![]()
