I am checkin it out right now... the bad part is that my g1 doesnt have my location using gps it has a nearby location on here... i guess thats safer than my exact location...

The android OS has what are called intents. When you clicked on the link, the browser fired an intent to see another web page. However, the market also registers for that intent and when it gets one directed towards it, it steals the call rather than giving to the browser. I use a similar method now for GasBot updates so that you can click a button and it'll open up the market right to my app.
