I like my G1, but I recently felt compelled to buy a larger capacity battery for it because of the poor battery life. I am truly hoping that RC-33 helps with improved battery life.

Second on my list of wants/needs is A2DP Bluetooth for the G1.

not 100% accurate. you will get the update. it just will NOT install. thats why it is important that you read the other rc33 threads to find out if you may have downloaded it and have the filename in your cat log. in which case you would be able to give JF the filename so he can download it from google and start modding it....

...or so everyone--those who don't care about root, at least--can download it and upgrade from their micro SD card instead of waiting for an OTA update, right?

ah okay, my bad. i was thinking the modified testkeys blocked the phone from receiving the OTA updates.

So in your experiences, how long until we will see a cracked firmware - and in that case - when installed will we lose any data?

Highly doubtful. TMO pushes the updates to devices on their network, not everyone else's.

I used to get the cracked one before the OTA even got to my phone.

Like ive been saying i hope tmobile dont screw g1 users, and before anyone says they wont, theyve done it in the past to sidekick users, tmobile very well could be holding out cupcake for a future g2 or something, in order to push that phone... giving it features that are above the g1, thats how buisness works.... i just hope that isnt the case here...

Im pretty sure this will not be a possiblity considering that its been modified for root.

Yeah, the turn around from the devs at XDA is pretty fast.
