I really want to install it now, but with it's services always running the background is a quite no-no for me. But if I can disable it, and it won't run in the background then I'm all in there. Will check with the task manager after installation and setting changes.

I think this is a good idea. Will help you from having to go store to store to find the stuff you want

Using: Samsung Galaxy S 4g on T-Mobile. Firmware 2.2.1
spending the 10 seconds to turn on or off gps and cell locator (which can now be done with the push of a single onscreen app) is a small price to pay to have the 'world in the palm of your hand'. i'll take the time out of my day to keep my battery health and turn things on and off when i need them.
when ur not home u dont leave your lights on cuz its gunna drain a lot of power and cost u money so u turn them off even though turning them on and off all the time is a pain.
Or maybe you automate them....A timer, a motion sensor, X10/Insteon.
Or a button switch that turns a closet light on when you open the door and turns it back off when you close the door.
You know, so that you don't have to waste 10 seconds groping for the switch every time you go into the closet since you know that it's dark enough in the closet that you're pretty much always going to want the light to come on when you're in there and go off when you're done.
Did they remove the real-time activate my GPS and WiFi randomly even after opt-ing out of the service, therefore annihilating my battery?
the problem being that SS does not respect YOUR settings for these items and turns them back on anyway. if it activates gps and wifi you don't even know until you have an app on the screen that uses gps or when wifi announces a found network. it also seems that wifi uses much more battery when it's not connected(searching for networks) than when it is
i just dont understand why there's not an option to use the old location method. SS devs said they got a lot of complaints about it before but it always worked perfectly for me. at least give it to us as an option
