Idiotic article in a sense - stating that we don't have them to sell in store is correct if not located in a 3G Market and quite frankly calling customer care to place orders for customers or order online since yesterday is now resulting in either being highly discouraged because of the backorder or they're simply not allowing orders to process period.

I even had to get a reason out of a Tier 2 PDA rep. today as to why I couldn't have a replacement or even a new order for a G1 placed for a customer whos SIM slot was messed up on her device she just received today.

Now yes I have successfully placed orders online for customers for the G1 on 10/22 - but now it seems to be at a halt right now with many systems. The last successful sale I was able to do was activating a line with G1 data for a new customer and having them drive to the Philadelphia region to pick up their G1 in store as I arranged with the Philly store locations manager.

Heh, the Tmobile rep I bought mine from was using one as his regular phone and even explained the subtle differences between the black and the brown.

Then again, I live in San Francisco. I was just lucky they hadn't sold out.

I was on the phone with a Tmo rep earlier to place insurance on my phone and she voluntarily mentioned "we aren't even taking orders for them right now"....I was gonna ask why, but forgot....too busy trying to remember the next question I was gonna ask her.

I Dont think Tmo employees are clueless..well maybe they are..but here in woodbridge,va Tmo isnt allowing us to sell it at all. We are authorized dealers who have stores in 3G markets as well so we already have the phones.. buh we were told that if we even advertise it, our sales would be hurt and customers wouldn't be satisfied. But I also found out that they are letting the corporate stores sell them 5miles away from where my store is located at..I guess they dont want the commission to go to other ppl..or may be they are just plain stupid not realizing that authorized dealers make most of their sales than the corporate stores...

Not all are clueless but in this case you can't convince me that they had even a slight clue when the price was not even known. It wont do the Google??? Are you kidding me? They don't even know what it is.

I try not to trust reps from just about any store, esp when it comes to electronics. This weekend, while very helpful, friendly, and fairly knowledgeable, a T-Mo rep in Joliet, IL told me the processor was not the 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM7201A described on HTC's site, but instead a 700mhz processor... but, I won't fault him too much for that. After all, he did kick one lady off the phone who had been looking at it for quite some time so I could see it.
    Some call me... Tim.

Thumbs down Re: T-Mobile employees clueless about the G1

I bought my G1 on October 23. After MULTIPLE conversations with TMO phone reps and three visits to speak with TMO employees in an attempt to get anything to work on my phone (even something as simple as importing my contacts), I returned my phone for a refund on October 26. I love the concept of the phone, but got so incredibly frustrated with the store referring me to CS and CS referring me to the store when NO ONE knew what they were doing. I wish it had worked. I couldn't do anything except manually dial numbers I knew by heart. Mighty fancy phone if that's all it is going to be capable of. I hope (and I'm sure) that my experience wasn't common, but I bet it was to anyone dealing with this store...and I live in DFW. It was pathetic how clueless everyone was about this phone.

well, i'm sure you know about the mobile solution if you're an indirect dealer... a phone that is so tied into t-mobile and is a featured product like the sidekick, i wouldn't want authorized dealers selling them either... no support, wheel and dealing is your game...

i'm not trying to talk down about indirects, cause some are good, but in general selling t-mobile only products only in corporate stores just makes sense for the business and for customers

I know TMS, I know how they wrk, and their reputation.I get constant complaints from customers(not my customers) and CS agents alike about TMS..even had a canse of Identity theft.. an employee used customers social to get 3 lines and had been using it for quite some time when she just went to do a credit check...

Now u say it makes sense to sell t-mo products at tmo stores only...whn we..not only I but all the indirect delears.probly make more thn 60-70% of total tmo sales... and Most of Us give better experience to customers than a corporate store...I could get you atleast 50 of my customers who came to my store sayin that the corporate stores were not only rude but unhelpfull.. ohh and i fgt. they did happen to mention that we trick customers by selling them used and refurbished phones... I had got that in recording.. since i was secret shopping/or spying arround...and ofcourse all tht store did was write a letter to tmobile hq? wtf? whts it gotta do with hq?
Oh well I guess T-mo wants to be a lil baby and not share...thts fine.. i can make my quota by selling the 08 anytime...
