I have seen it over and over again that the phones will be available to the public on 10.22. That seems odd, since the point of preordering was so you got one first? I am not eligible for the upgrade until 10.05 so it looks like I will be waiting in line since "supplies have dropped to under 1000" (not from 700,000 they didn't. not even if a third of the phones had "chipped paint" lol). I really am fascinated by the scale of this perception since I haven't seen any official statement saying they would be released on the 22nd. Did I miss it? Can I get a link to it?
And I am trying to plan a mini night raid/road trip to chicago from milwaukee since they will only be sold in 3g markets. Is that true? Anyone seen anything OFFICIAL on it either way?
When you order one, it says "Your phone will be delivered Oct. 22nd".
Doesn't get much more official than that!

I am going to resist the urge to flame, and kindly ask you to reread my post. Your answer was not only already confirmed in my post, but isn't applicable to the question.
I'll even copy/paste for you:
"the phones will be available to the public on 10.22. That seems odd, since the point of preordering was so you got one first?"
I ask again. Why would they release the phones to the public on the same day preordered phones arrive?
Anyone seen official confirmation that the stores will sell on the 22nd?
Quick Google search, here you go.
T-Mobile customers in the U.S. have the opportunity to pre-order the T-Mobile G1, in limited quantities, beginning today at www.T-MobileG1.com and be among the first to experience this game-changing phone. The device will be available at select T-Mobile retail stores and online in the U.S. beginning Oct. 22, for a price of $179 with a two-year voice and data agreement.

Sidenote: Android 18 is a bad ass.
