Can anyone confirm this? i saw it over on the tmonews site :
"Message files cannot save to memory card i think this one will be a big call driver...big big oops
There is no option to save a picture or video file to the memory card from an MMS message.
When saving an e-mail attachment to the memory card, the device may save the file without a file extension. This causes the file to not be viewable on the device.
To work around this issue, ask the customer to forward the message to an e-mail account. The customer can then save the file on a computer.
Note:If the customer tries to save the forwarded file from an e-mail message to the phone memory card, the phone may save the file without a file extension and the file won't be viewable on the phone.
To forward a multimedia message to an e-mail account, follow these steps:
From the Home screen, touch the Applications button.
Touch Messaging.
Touch the message that contains the picture or video.
Press and hold in an empty space in the message.
Touch Forward.
At To, type the e-mail address.
Press the Menu key and touch Send. "
i may be dumb but this doesn t make any sense to me, so if a friend MMS me a picture, i cannot save it to the phone??? I MUST email it to myself?

yea, that does seem kinda lame. i guess you could save it to internal memory though, correct? that way you could transfer it to your pc for burning or safekeeping. if you really wanted it on sd card , you could transfer it to there from pc and .....wait! if the cell can read it from internal storage, you transfer it to pc, then to sd, the damn phone better be able to play it after having to go through that. some people might get many mms and want to save them on phones sd card. at the very least, you should be allowed to transfer from pc to sd card. still lame though if you gotta go through that method.

Edit: seems the problem is two things both the files can't be saved on the phone and even if you forward to email the file may be saved without extension and then you can't see it on the device. Both should be fixable if Google updates it next time.
Edit: it would have been nice if you at least gave us a link so we wouldn't have to dig for it:

Doesn't seem like too many issues, probably they can fix it in the next update. It is expected for bugs like this to happen on any phone much less an entirely new platform.

sorry i didn't link it because it was a lengthy thread and it wasn't dedicated to just this topic. So i thought the copy and paste method was appropriate for this item.....and i would start it's own thread over here on the "coolerer" forum![]()

If I understood well the main problem is not saving the file to the memory card but having the file saved without an extension?!
If that was the case the fix is really easy - I am positive you will be able to rename recorded data onto memory card - so you should be able to see what is the name in MMS; for instance: new_year.jpg.
If there is no .jpg extension you can add it if is that important but it would be cool to see this corrected in future... advanced users seems will not have issues with it![]()

That's the thing that is kind of troubling about Android is that there seems to be no file manager from what I can see in the User guide (though of course the user guide doesn't go very deep), so I don't think you can rename files. I have seen some third party file managers for android online, but I don't think they have been updated for Android v1.0 yet. I guess I should install the emulator and check it out so I can answer these kind of questions.
I do honestly hope there will be Total Commander File Manager for Android - or at least something similar to it. I have that app since my very first computer/pocketPC - very good...
